Appointments to the board of directors of Great Ocean Road Health

The Minister for Health, Martin Foley MP, is pleased to invite applications for part time board positions of Great Ocean Road Health with terms of office commencing from 1 July 2021.

Safe and high quality healthcare for all Victorians is a priority of the Victorian Government. Applicants for board directorships must be able to demonstrate and provide evidence in support of the skills they identify in their applications.

These positions provide an exciting opportunity for members of the Victorian public with relevant experience and qualifications to contribute to the strategic leadership of public health care delivery to the community.

Great Ocean Road Health Service is a rural health service that delivers a range of programs and services for our local communities. The Health Service has two campuses located in the townships of Lorne, and Apollo Bay. 

All applications will be considered however The Great Ocean Road Health Service Board of Directors would particularly welcome applicants with expertise in ‘rural health and/or information technology ‘ to fill identified gaps in their current board skills profile.  Please refer to the Position Description for more details about the competencies needed.

HR Administrator

Part time 40 hours / fortnight

An exciting opportunity currently exist for the role of Human Resources Administrator. Reporting to the HR Manager, the HR Administrator will provide administration supports relating to the human resource needs of the Great Ocean Road Health workforce.

The successful applicant will be highly motivated, with strong verbal and written communication skills and exceptionally detail focused. Previous experience in or knowledge of HR function highly desirable.

Early Years Educator Team Leader & Early Years Educator Assistant

Lorne Community House require an Early Years Educator Team Leader with a minimum of a Diploma of Children’s Services (or equivalent) and an Early Years Educator Assistant with a Certificate 3 in Children’s Services (or equivalent) to care for up to 14 children aged approx. 18 months to 4 years. Required for our January 2021 program (11th to 27th January 2021) operating Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday 9am to 2pm.

  • Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Provide First Aid including Anaphylaxis and Asthma.

Community Care Worker (Lorne)

Part time – 15 hrs / week

Great Ocean Road Health (Lorne) is seeking to employ Community Care Workers to provide personal care, domestic assistance services and social support to clients in their homes. We are seeking a compassionate, enthusiastic and caring individuals to join the Community Care team.

The position of Community Care Worker requires the following:

  • Current or working towards Certificate III in Individual Support (or equivalent)
  • Apply Advanced First Aid
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Current Drivers Licence.

GORH are seeking Expressions of Interest for the role of Courier responsible for a delivery run from Apollo Bay to Geelong via Lorne (return).  The position is up to 15 hours / week (6 months) or casual (negotiable). Weekend work is required. Successful applicants will be reliable and dependable, have excellent communication skills, and hold a valid Victorian Drivers Licence.

Great Ocean Road Health is currently seeking community representatives from the Aireys Inlet and Deans Marsh areas. Anyone aged 16 years and above may apply.

General Practitioner – Apollo Bay Medical Centre

Full-time and part-time positions available

POSITION DESCRIPTION

  • Busy and growing, mixed billing clinic – high earning potential
  • Ability to work  part-time or full-time
  • Desirable location on the Great Ocean Road
  • Experience or interest in the provision of supervision for GP Trainees


ROLE

This GPA accredited mixed billing clinic sees 120-160 patients a week, providing care for the local communities as well as a significant tourist population between December and April.

As Apollo Bay Medical Centre is part of Great Ocean Road Health, there is an integrated multidisciplinary approach to care within the health service and a sharing of staff and expertise with Lorne Medical Centre, also part of Great Ocean Road Health. The service is also well supported by specialist regional services from Barwon Health

Participation in the After-Hours Urgent Care on call roster is available.

Support from a Practice Nurse, experienced Administration staff and a Practice Manager, will see you rapidly transition smoothly into the community within this well-established Centre.


PACKAGE

About Apollo Bay Medical Centre

PRACTICE DETAILS

The Apollo Bay Medical Centre is integrated within the Otway Health site, part of Great Ocean Road Health, which includes Urgent Care, Aged Care (20 beds) Acute Care and Community Care. The centre has visiting Allied Health and Specialist services on a regular basis. Pathology services are also on site with a pharmacy located within the community.

Apollo Bay Medical Centre currently has 3 doctors – 1 VR, 2 Registrars and Nurse Practitioners in the Urgent Care.  The Medical Centre consists of 5 consulting rooms with a treatment room.

Current practice hours are Monday to Friday, 8:45 am – 5.45 pm and Saturday 9 am to 12 pm, closed on Sundays.

The main patient health issues impacting on the practice are women’s health, Diabetes, and Chronic Disease Management within the community, with a wide range of clients accessing services during the summer months with an influx of tourists to the region between December and April.

Access to an Allied Health referral network is available through Otway Health with a wide range of services readily accessible.

Lorne and Apollo Bay practices are operating in similar organisation structures with integrated primary care focus. They work together to provide Great Care to the communities along the Great Ocean Road.
