Courier Hospital Attendant

Part time (15 hrs / week) – Fixed term 12 months

(Apollo Bay)

GORH is seeking Expressions of Interest for the role of Courier / Hospital Attendant. The role will encompass providing a delivery run from Apollo Bay to Geelong via Lorne (return) as well as providing additional assistance with GORH’s organisational COVID 19 Staff / Visitor screening program in response to the requirements the COVID 19 pandemic. Some weekend work will be required.

Successful applicants will be reliable and dependable, have excellent communication skills, and hold a valid Victorian Drivers Licence.

Clinical Projects Co-ordinator

GORH is currently seeking a Clinical Projects Coordinator to assist with a number of clinical projects including the planning and coordination of GORH’s COVID 19 response and vaccination program.  The successful candidate will have excellent communication and coordination skills, the ability to appraise and evaluate information then disseminate as appropriate. Experience in clinical project management desirable.

Community Care Worker 

Great Ocean Road Health  is seeking to employ Community Care Workers to provide personal care, domestic assistance services and social support to clients in their homes. We are seeking a compassionate, enthusiastic and caring individuals to join the Community Care team.

The position of Community Care Worker requires the following:

  • Current or working towards Certificate III in Individual Support (or equivalent)

Join our Community Advisory Committee (CAC) to assist with the future direction of your health service.

Voluntary Role

Great Ocean Road Health (GORH) provides a range of health services within a large catchment area extending from Lavers Hill to Aireys Inlet, including the hinterland townships of Deans Marsh and Forrest and the coastal towns of Lorne and Apollo Bay, as well as many other small townships in between. There are two campuses, and services provided include urgent care, acute wards, medical centres, a range of community based services and aged care facilities, in Lorne and Apollo Bay.

The Community Advisory Committee (CAC) – Apollo Bay Campus is an advisory committee of the Great Ocean Road Health Board. This committee seeks to advocate to the Board on behalf of the community, consumers and carers, and to provide direction and leadership in relation to the integration of community views into the local health service. The committee also advises the health service on the sufficiency of community engagement and participation across GORH.

The CAC comprises at least two board members, GORH staff, and community representatives from the catchment area of Apollo Bay, Skenes Creek, Lavers Hill & Forrest.

The CAC meets 5 times per year, and in addition, conducts community consultations with the wider community from time to time. Community consultation dates and themes will be published to the broader community and participation in these forums is encouraged.

General Practitioner – Apollo Bay Medical Centre

Full-time and part-time positions available

POSITION DESCRIPTION

  • Busy and growing, mixed billing clinic – high earning potential
  • Ability to work  part-time or full-time
  • Desirable location on the Great Ocean Road
  • Experience or interest in the provision of supervision for GP Trainees


ROLE

This GPA accredited mixed billing clinic sees 120-160 patients a week, providing care for the local communities as well as a significant tourist population between December and April.

As Apollo Bay Medical Centre is part of Great Ocean Road Health, there is an integrated multidisciplinary approach to care within the health service and a sharing of staff and expertise with Lorne Medical Centre, also part of Great Ocean Road Health. The service is also well supported by specialist regional services from Barwon Health

Participation in the After-Hours Urgent Care on call roster is available.

Support from a Practice Nurse, experienced Administration staff and a Practice Manager, will see you rapidly transition smoothly into the community within this well-established Centre.

About Apollo Bay Medical Centre

PRACTICE DETAILS

The Apollo Bay Medical Centre is integrated within the Otway Health site, part of Great Ocean Road Health, which includes Urgent Care, Aged Care (20 beds) Acute Care and Community Care. The centre has visiting Allied Health and Specialist services on a regular basis. Pathology services are also on site with a pharmacy located within the community.

Apollo Bay Medical Centre currently has 3 doctors – 1 VR, 2 Registrars and Nurse Practitioners in the Urgent Care.  The Medical Centre consists of 5 consulting rooms with a treatment room.

Current practice hours are Monday to Friday, 8:45 am – 5.45 pm and Saturday 9 am to 12 pm, closed on Sundays.

The main patient health issues impacting on the practice are women’s health, Diabetes, and Chronic Disease Management within the community, with a wide range of clients accessing services during the summer months with an influx of tourists to the region between December and April.

Access to an Allied Health referral network is available through Otway Health with a wide range of services readily accessible.

Lorne and Apollo Bay practices are operating in similar organisation structures with integrated primary care focus. They work together to provide Great Care to the communities along the Great Ocean Road.
