GREAT ADVOCACY SERVICES
Apollo Bay campus offers Advocacy services to keep you informed and support you in making your own decisions.
WHAT IS ADVOCACY?
Advocacy is the process of standing alongside an individual who is in need of support, and speaking out on their behalf in a way that represents their best interests, even if that cause or interest does not necessarily coincide with the advocate’s own beliefs, opinions, conclusions or recommendations.
Advocating for an individual is a powerful way to demonstrate support for that person. Advocates stand behind the individual to:
- support the person to be heard
- inform the person about their options
- link the person with appropriate services
- inform the person of their rights & responsibilities in receiving services
- act, speak or write on the person’s behalf
WHAT IS AN ADVOCATE?
An advocate is someone who stands beside you and works solely on your behalf and at your direction. They listen to your concerns, give you information and speak up for you if you want them to. Before taking action, they will seek your permission. Apollo Bay campus clients are able to nominate a person of their choice to act as their advocate.
