Iorne ANNUAL APPEAL
PLEASE SUPPORT OUR RURAL HOSPITAL DURING COVID-19
Over the past 12 months, a regular theme in feedback from our local community surveys and consultation is about the challenge of living with poor mental health. We know this is a health concern urgently requiring resources for our local community. This is highlighted by the fact that about 45 per cent of Australian adults will be affected by mental illness at some time in their life.
WHY WE NEED YOUR HELP?
People in regional, and remote areas of Australia face more barriers to accessing health care than those living in major cities, making it harder for them to maintain good mental health. Young people who live outside capital cities appear to be particularly at risk of suicide.
In the past decade we have increased local awareness and knowledge around mental wellness through forums, workshops and guest speaker events. Now is the time, particularly with the challenges presented by Covid-19, for us to implement a range of services to increase positive mental health in our community.
By supporting this year’s appeal your donation will:
- Tackle mental health issues head on, and target programs to where they are most needed.
- Introduce emotional health activities to younger people in our community which could change their future.
- Educate all of our staff, local sport coaches, teachers and other key mentors to identify and care for someone when they are in a mental health crisis.
- Plan for the future needs for our regional community by providing additional mental health and wellbeing services.
Please stay safe and look after yourself and each other during this difficult time.
