Our telehealth program enables patients to receive quality care closer to home via telecommunication technology, improving access to specialist healthcare for people in regional communities and reducing the need to travel for specialist advice.

What is Telehealth?

Telehealth is the use of video-call between you and your health care professional.

What will it cost me?

Telehealth is available to Medicare card holders and consultations can be bulk-billed.

The video call is free. The regular costs, if any, of a medical consultation still apply. Please speak to your specialist about any costs to you for your consultation.

If you ask your GP or other healthcare professional to also attend, they may have fees. Both your medical specialist and your GP may bill Medicare. You may be given forms to sign before your Telehealth consultation.

How do I book a Telehealth appointment?

Ask your clinician if you would like a telehealth video consultation. If it is appropriate, they will book a telehealth video consultation for you. Tell your clinician if you will need an interpreter. Tell your clinician if you would like your GP or other health professional to join you.

What do I require to make a Telehealth call?

Telehealth services are supported in the following web browsers – Google Chrome Version 72+ (Windows, Android, MacOS) Apple Safari Version 12+ (MacOS, iOS), Firefox Version 68+ (Windows, Android), Microsoft Edge Version 79+ (Windows, MacOS) and Microsoft Edge Version 44+ (Android).

You will also require good internet connection and a private, well lit area to conduct the call.

Please note: all telehealth calls are private and secure. No one may record the consultation without written consent by all involved.
